Assignment 2 Storyline

Assignment 2 is to develop a plot on the theme (e.g., about our university or our CNM programme; why you choose NUS/CNM, what you enjoy/like in the uni/campus, the uniqueness of NUS/CNM). How to promote and let others see the benefits/advantages of studying in NUS and CNM from your point of view as a student.

Draft One
This approach starts from what kind of photos to put in before thinking how it should be done and what commentary should there be.

  • Uni starts with a rites of passage call orientation camps
  • Many camps
    • union camp
    • faculty camp
    • cca camp
  • But all will end up at the beach
  • so there are a few things that you need to learn
    • learn to swim
    • learn to cycle
    • learn to socialize
  • whhat uni life without a cca
  • I joined ODAC
  • We
    • track the forest
    • water raft
    • watch sunrise
    • climbk
would be long before you realized that a fun filled year but no results make a jack a sad boy
  • show result slip of Ds and Cs
  • While you are having fun people are actually studying hard
  • NUS provides a good studying environment
  • With lots of benches
  • lots of sockets
  • and availability of coffee
  • because studying can be a chore and that make you sleepy
  • sleepy easily
  • sleepy in lecture
  • sleepy on benches
  • sleeping on readings
  • Spiderman to the rescue during reading week in library
  • while some modules are a bore
  • there are some interesting ones like design and robotic modules
  • at the end of the day, NUS is about friends you know, things you learn and what you experience
Draft Two
This approach starts from a commentary before thinking on which photos to put in.
The reason why I am in NUS because its nearer than NTU. I chose SOC is elimination of choices. I chose CM is because it is the one with the least technical requirements.

However, thinking back how I spent my past years in NUS, I didn't regret being where I am because I did enjoy myself because of the friends and lecturers I know here. Till now, I maintain contact with people I know during orientation camps, faculty camps and CCA camps. This socializing and fun experience is a life-long skill and memories will not be lost even after I graduate. My CCA, ODAC, allows me to explore the nature while learning on-the-go how to plan for and organize events and oversea trips with participants from various backgrounds.

On the academic side, the system of modules bidding is unique and degree requirements gives much flexibilities that allow me to take modules that I am interested in and therefore allow me to gain knowledge in areas of my interest. New media modules make me realized today's information message is heavily mediated and have huge impacts in our life. Design modules makes me appreciate the forms today's products are and develops my habit of being critical and squeezes my creative juice for future designs and improvement for our daily life.

There are varieties of overseas opportunities for students to embark a globally-oriented educational experience. Student exchanges, summer programmes and is a more structured manner, while international internships like NOCs, i-Itern, international research attachments and SHAPE is in a more innovative and exploratory manner. NUS also has various schemes for financial aid that can help to lessen the burden who students usually is in deep debt even before they start their career.

Hm... Okies.. after typing this whole lot, I think this will be my commentaries for my Ken Burns video. Now, it is to find photos that can used.
