Final Project Pre-Production Documentation After Thoughts

After the presentation of the rest of the class, it seems that our is the most unique. The reason is because our project is more of a documentary/advertisement while majority of the rest is advertisement/story.

During presentation, I saw Julian's face was not very happy about our project. Not sure is it because we are the first to present and he was not very sure what to expect, or it is because our idea is not what he will see as good. It troubles me.

In addition, I saw the rest of the groups' documentation with their details scripts and storyboard. I wonder again, why did my group have difficulties coming out with concrete scripts? After some thoughts, I realized it is because our approach is more towards documentary which means its difficult to know what is going to happen at the spot, and usually shots are taken impromptu.

After a short consultation with Julian, he mentioned that even such documentary should have a scripts so that film makers will know what to include and what not to include during the filming itself. This will help to cut down the amount of footage and editing required after filming.

Its so confusing, its a little different from what I learn in SC3213 Ethnographic Analysis of Visual Media. However, I know where the problem lies, we don't understand what we are going to film, thats why its difficult to come out with a useful script. Even ethnographers film markers get to know their "subjects" first before letting their film run.
